Talking about the book, Bhakti Mathur said, ‘The Golden Temple has enriched me beyond measure. I was mesmerized by the beauty of its magnificent setting. Engaged by the richness of its history intertwined with that of Sikhism itself, I felt spiritually energised as I delved deeper into the teachings of Sikh Gurus.
Gorgeously illustrated, the Amma, Take Me series is an attempt to introduce children to the many Indian religions and faiths through their important places of worship. The books, styled as the travelogues of a mother and her two young boys, Shiv and Veer, link history, tradition and mythology to bring alive the major temples, churches, mosques and mausoleums of India in an engaging and interactive way.
Amma, Take Me to the Golden Temple, released across India by early July, is a beautifully written account of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Told through interesting stories and filled with insightful details, facts and trivia, the book is a must-have for all the parents and teachers who want to introduce their children to the country’s many religions in an informative and non-preachy manner.

I hope that this journey of Amma and her boys will inspire readers on their own journey and I hope that they will enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Sohini Mitra, Executive Editor, (Puffin Books), PRH India said, ‘We realized there was a gap in the market when it came to books about places of worship—books that bring forth stories about religious monuments and the faiths, cultures and traditions they represent. There are so many little-known stories, a plethora of trivia and fascinating information associated with popular religious sites. The idea was to let readers soak in this info as they travel with Amma and her two sons, get mesmerized by the beauty of the place and learn something that they never knew about.’

About Bhakti Mathur
Bhakti Mathur took to writing in 2010 when she created the popular Amma, Tell Me series of children’s picture books about Indian festivals and mythology. After a long stint as a banker, she now juggles her time between her writing, her passion for fitness and longdistance running, and her family. She lives in Hong Kong with her husband, their two children and two dogs. When not writing or running after her young boys, Bhakti is happiest curled up with a book in one hand and a hot cup of chai in the other.
