The Hong Kong Telugu Samakhya celebrates Ugadi

The Telugu new year day, with traditional fervour and gaiety representing the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana It is considered as an auspicious day as it marks the beginning of the New month, Chaitra of a new year based on the new year calendar.

The opening ceremony was done by Lighting of the Lamp by Mr. Andrew Wong , Vice Chairman ,Hong Kong Retd.Civil Servants Association, Smt. Jaya Peesapaty- Founder President of The Hong Kong Telugu Samakhya, Secretary- Fr.Bala Kishore , Treasure – Sri. Narra Vara Prasad. Consul General of India Sri.Puneet Agrawal addressed and congratulated the Telugu Samakhya for continuing to hold and pass on the Culture and traditions to the younger generations and conveyed his best wishes. Sri Puneet Agrawal gave away the awards and expressed his joy in knowing their talents and achievements. Few of the important guests were the executive officers from our Sponsors and prominent members of Indian Diaspora in Hong Kong.Celebrations marked with colourful and vibrant cultural performances, recognising and honouring Members of Society for their remarkable contributions and an array of authentic foods from Telugu cuisines.
