Maintain your inner confidence with Natasha Moor

Entrepreneur, philanthropist, celebrity makeup artist extraordinaire, and founder of Natasha Moor Cosmetics, these are just a few ways to describe Natasha Moor.

Natasha Moor has dedicated her time and expertise to empower individuals to find their inner confidence through the transformational tool that is makeup, be it as an international makeup artist or through her cosmetics brand. Natasha believes that makeup serves not only to conceal blemishes, but rather to enhance an individuals natural beauty that can shine through their eyes, smile and soul. It’s truly #MoorThanMakeup.

Makeup, what does it mean to you?
As the Founder and CEO of Natasha Moor Cosmetics, I wholeheartedly believe that makeup is a transformative tool that manifests the inner confidence that shines through your smile, your eyes and your soul. Makeup has the power to conceal blemishes, highlight areas of the face you want to accentuate, and provides sense of self care, but more importantly, it has the power to bring out your inner glow.

Makeup is a fabulous way to celebrate YOU.

In my role, I strive to inspire and empower individuals through the transformative power of makeup and give them the tools to feel like the best version of themselves, inside and out.

What prompted you to create your own brand as a makeup artist?
I was inspired to create Natasha Moor Cosmetics through my experience as a makeup artist for my brides and direct clientele, but most importantly through my philanthropy.

I had the unique opportunity to visit women’s shelters and rehabilitation centres and use makeup as a tool to transform the way they felt. One may have thought that applying makeup seems superficial and may send the wrong message, however, I saw in an instant, the surge of excitement and sense of self-confidence that exuded when these women looked at themselves. In that moment, I realised that this is why I do what I do, and that sense of empowerment serves as the basis for our collection, every product we create at Natasha Moor Cosmetics and our #DoMoor charitable initiatives.

The Natasha Moor Cosmetics range encourages self-love, ignites inner power and realises the different definitions and expressions of beauty:
each product is designed with unique aspirational affirmations, so that the individual feels uplifted when wearing our products.

Each of the products in the collection fill a gap in the market. I noticed a niche, specifically with our first line of cosmetics: lipstick. As a makeup
artist for brides, I could not find something that had lasting power, was hydrating, highly pigmented and looked luxurious, while being accessible at the same time.

I took two years to formulate our Molten Matte Liquid Lipsticks, which is available in 18 different pigmented shades. Each is one moisturising and has a 14-hour staying power — to the extent that you don’t need to reapply. I simultaneously developed our Silk Suede Lipsticks, as I felt that there was not a rich, long-lasting lipstick available, that radiated glamour and was functional for easy on-the-go application. Each of our 15 shades of lipsticks are cased in an ergonomically designed press and release packaging with a mirror.

Every one of our lip colours is named after heartening and empowering mantras, with the intention to manifest and live by each message after application. Some of our shade names include Game Changer, Boss and Serendipity.

Name your top 3 favourite products from your collection, and why?
It is definitely hard to choose from the entire Natasha Moor Cosmetics collection!

However, if I had to pick three, I would say:

  1. Liquid Magic Liquid Concealer – it is a versatile and buildable concealer, available in 6 shades, that gives a second-skin refreshed look. I could sleep for four hours and would look like I have slept for eight; a magical life-saver!
  2. Molten Matte Liquid Lipsticks – our pigmented, moisturising liquid lipstick that has a 14-hour staying power, available in 18 shades. I use them everyday without fail, not only because they are mask-proof, but because wearing them makes me feel ready to take on the day.
  3. Moor Power Mascara – our smudgeproof black mascara with a tapered application brush that envelops every eyelash. I feel like my eyes say it all these days, especially when wearing a mask. When I wear Moor Power, it
gives me the instant lift, length and definition I love, without needing eyelash extensions.

Everyone loves the classic Natasha Moor Cosmetics look, how does one achieve that?
To achieve the classic Natasha Moor Cosmetics look, less is really MOOR! I believe a few light touches can go a long way.

As part of the Natasha Moor Cosmetics range, we have a buildable “Conceal and Conquer” set which includes our orange colour corrector stick No Bag Vibes, our Secret Perfector stick concealer and Liquid Magic liquid concealer. I apply these products in the respective order, and follow with the Take Control contour stick.

After, I begin accentuating the eyes and use our Kohl It Magic triple black long-stay eyeliner, to shape the eyes to perfection, and our Moor Power extreme volumising mascara that envelops every lash for volume and length.

Lastly, I select my affirmation and apply my lipstick shade choice from either the Molten Matte or Silk Suede collections. Most recently, I have been opting for Molten Matte’s as they are food, transfer and mask-proof!

As a beauty entrepreneur, what is the most important lesson you’ve learned?
As a beauty entrepreneur I am extremely hands on with all areas of the business, and no one day is exactly the same.

I am involved from concept development to product formulation, colour selection, packaging and distribution, to ensure that every addition to the Natasha Moor Cosmetics portfolio stands true to our values: to empower and inspire all those who wear it.

There are aspects of the business that are more challenging than others. Since I am so involved with every aspect of the business, I have learned that it is important to remain open and agile to adapt, grow and sustain.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a child, I wanted to be a photographer because I was mesmerised by beauty, always wanting to create a harmonious composition.

“No one is you and that is your power” is your brand ethos, what do you hope that people takeaway from your brand?
My definition of success is being able to make someone feel empowered and indestructibly confident in themselves, be it through the application of one of our products or through my voice. I believe that everybody has something wonderful to offer, and sometimes they do not see it in themselves. I hope that every person that wears Natasha Moor Cosmetics is inspired to see and appreciate themselves wholeheartedly.

You do a great deal of philanthropy, what inspired you to take on this role?
Our brand was founded on connecting the souls of the various women who I had worked with and direct clientele. My philanthropic initiatives have enabled me to empower individuals, build their self-confidence and self-worth leveraging the transformative power of makeup. Our #DoMoor philanthropic initiative is a core focus for our brand and myself. Every opportunity is something that is very close to my heart, and I credit this side of myself to my mother. She is a giving soul and does a great deal to support the people around her whenever she can.

Our most recent initiative, “Sole Mate”, was created in tandem with our “Soulmate” lipstick shade. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shade “Soulmate” go towards gifting slippers to those in need. For this initiative, we worked with the Spark-A-Change Foundation in Mumbai. We hope to extend this project, along with many others, to other parts of the world in the near future.

As an inspirational figure yourself for many, who has inspired you along the way?
I have always been inspired by the strong individuals in my life, my mother, father, grandmothers and Natasha Moor Cosmetics’ business development consultant. My grandmothers were both the epitome of style and glamour. My father’s mother had her very own glam room, and as a child I would spend my days watching her get ready for her day and events. My mother’s mum, till today, does not leave the house or greet anyone without having her lipstick on. I could see how much they enjoyed applying the makeup and how much it made a difference to their confidence, and I think it is from these moments that I got a first glimpse into the transformative power of makeup.

I credit my passion for philanthrophy to my mother, as she is the epitome of kindness. I have always and continue to be inspired by her. My father, an expert training and leadership consultant, has always taught me the value and importance of communication, which has inspired me to be a better leader. He has a wonderful knack for helping individuals understand themselves better, especially through his training programs. Last but not least, I am so inspired by Adrienne, my business development consultant, who puts her heart and soul into everything she does. I met her at a point in my life when I was uncertain about the future, and through her belief in the brand, she has made the impossible possible – launching us in Sephora (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines), macys.com and Amazon. She has truly been instrumental in institutionalising Natasha Moor Cosmetics.

Your speciality is bridal makeup, what made you gravitate towards this part of the spectrum?
Every wedding is unique and special, big on love and full of emotion. I love working with brides because being able to make them feel and look like the princess that they are on their special day is the best feeling in the world! I cherish the behind-the-scenes moments when I am with my brides, just before they partake in one of the biggest events of their lives.

Where do you see the brand in five years?
My aspiration is to continue to empower individuals and advocate that makeup changes more than just how we look, it transforms the way we feel. Through every Natasha Moor Cosmetics product, our goal is to reinforce that we as individuals can and should shine as our true selves without inhibition. I would like to see our brand making a positive difference in the world. Embracing women’s perceived insecurities and empowering them to grow. I will continue to create products that make women feel beautiful but also run campaigns that aim to inspire and influence in a positive manner.
