Khalsa lads beat Antlers and grabbed KGM Memorial Trophy

Khalsa Sports clubs lads under 21 showed a beautiful hockey in a tough final match with Antlers. The match remained drawn. In penalties, Khalsa lads toppled the game and won the final by 5-3 and raised the trophy.
Best Player – Chen Hsi Fan (Antlers) – Cup + hockey sticker + cash $500 + cash voucher $500
Best defender – Kumar Randeep ( Khalsa) – Medal, Hockey bag + cash $500 + cash voucher $500
In another final match of under 16, Khalsa beat Hong Kong Football Club and won the trophy.
Best player – Vishal (Khalsa)
Best defender – David Evans (Hong Kong Football club)
In Girls section the final was played between Whiteford Perth Australia and KCC Hong Kong. The Australian girl’s team played a sensible hockey and won the trophy.

Every year Koma Gata Maru memorial Hockey tournament is organized by Punjab Youth Club Hong Kong. The Komagata Maru incident involved the Japanese steamship Komagata Maru on which a group of citizens of the British Raj led by Bapu Gurdit Singh attempted to emigrate to Canada in 1914 but were denied entry and forced return to Calcutta, India. There they were fired upon by British police resulting in the deaths of 20 Sikhs.
This voyage was sailed from Hong Kong and carrying 376 Punjabis. The passengers comprised of 340 Sikhs, 24 Muslims and 12 Hindus.
