Move over Sephora; it’s time for real skincare!
One of the fool proof recipes that will not only get you glowing on the inside but also the outside is a spiced spinach and avocado beauty smoothie. Brimming with vitamins A, K, and omega 3 fatty acids, the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric and chia in this smoothie have great skin rejuvenating elements. Additionally, the banana has excellent anti-aging properties whist the avocado and coconut milk are sure to hydrate, soften, and have your skin all slurped.
Recipe:
Add 1 banana, 1 avocado, few leaves of spinach, a table spoon of chia seeds, half teaspoon of organic turmeric, and half a cup of coconut milk and blend in a blender. Drink and Apply.
The efficacy of natural beauty ingredients has been known since time immemorial. Unlike storebought products that are loaded with harsh chemicals and artificial ingredients, skin products made from natural ingredients have proven to work a lot better not just on your skin, they also work a lot better for the environment. Breath-work, meditation, mini yoga sessions and a regular yet gentle skincare routine are part of my daily must do’s.
Close to my heart are the fondest memories of my late grandmother and the daily skincare routine she followed. She would wake up in the morning, brush her teeth, and much to our dismay wake up the whole household with sounds of her Ayurvedic gargle concoctions! After her morning cup of chai, she would apply a thick paste of gram flour, turmeric, milk, and honey on her face and neck and sit in the garden and read the newspaper. Memories of her flawless complexion, which was smooth as silk, glistening eyes, and warm cuddles, are some of the things my sisters and I hold very close to our hearts.
Recently I have found myself wanting to go back to using natural and basic ingredients instead of the commercialized brands that you see nowadays. Remembering my grandma and her way of living inspired me to find my calling for simplicity.
To use all the goodness that nature has to offer for my self-care. Our kitchens really do hold the key to a stack full of pure, natural, potent, and powerful beauty ingredients that are not only chemical-free but are a cheaper and more cost effective way to nourish our skin and hair. I adore my breakfast smoothies, and as unusual as this may sound, I love to double up the use of my smoothies and employ them as light smoothie face masks. The results can be fantabulous!
